The Porter’s Potluck: A Celebration of Blessed Solanus Casey – Tuesday, July 30th
Join us on Tuesday night, July 30th in Kress Hall for “The Porter’s Potluck” a meal, presentation, and time of prayer to celebrate the memorial of Blessed Solanus Casey.
Born in Prescott, Wisconsin, Fr. Solanus served God’s people as a Capuchin Franciscan priest for more than 50 years before his death in 1957. Fr. Solanus, who lived in the city of Superior in the 1880s and 1890s, was elevated by the Catholic Church to the distinction of “Blessed” in November 2018.
After a potluck dinner from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m., parishioner and seminarian Dan Tracy will give a presentation on Fr. Solanus. Dan has extensively researched Fr. Solanus’ life after learning that he too studied as a Diocesan seminarian in Milwaukee. Following Dan’s presentation, at 7:30 p.m. there will be an opportunity for prayer and a blessing with a relic of the True Cross. A first-class relic of Blessed Solanus Casey will also be available for veneration.
If you would like to bring any food or drink items for the potluck dinner, please contact Dan Tracy via e-mail at dtracy@sfs.edu
